This was a great project. A post and beam three bedroom two bath straw bale home with an attached garage and a wrap around porch. The building site is overlooked by Spencer Butte, (or originally named “Cham-o-tee”, meaning rattlesnake), a prominent landmark known for great hiking trails and a favorite spot for locals, and particularly my clients. They reached out to me and we met up to discuss ideas, and they gave me a sketch of the home they wanted. Together we worked on the dialing the floor plan and elevations to suit both the site and their needs. They brought there personal artistic touch to each space to make this design a unique piece of their heart and soul. They even added a loft in the living room for a cozy space to take in the views of the butte and surrounding forest. We were fortunate to have Chris Foraker with Cascadia Vernacular, build the home, and Andrew Morrison with Strawbale.com teach a workshop to install the bales and initiate the plastering. Enjoy!
