This straw bale home in Walsenburg, Colorado was designed for high-altitude and cold-climate performance. The design prioritizes thick, high-performance wall assemblies and clear construction documentation for residential permitting and construction.
This was a great project for a really fun loving and generous couple. I was fortunate enough to spend a few days helping with baling and plastering during the straw bale workshop. It is a really quaint 2 bedroom 3 bath with a loft office area and extra sleeping area and the third bathroom upstairs for visiting guests privacy. An excellent fine craftsman finish with local wood and other southern Colorado materials. Tons of natural light and cozy vibes.
